My Senior Thesis

This semester, I am working on my art history senior thesis on Korean art from the Chosun Dynasty. I decided to concentrate on a particular artist, Shin Yun Bok. He is well known for painting daily life scenes which was prohibited as a form of art at the time. I know there was a drama and a movie? made out of his life story so that should be fun to watch. 

Almost in any library in the states, Korean art/ history section is the smallest collection from the east asian section. So I had to order some books from Korea which are mostly in complicated old korean and chinese characters not because they were written long time ago but because of technical terms and the language structure of the Chosun Dynasty. For this reason, my readings have been pretty slow but it's definitely something I need to learn at some point in my career. Besides, it's a good practice for my future researches. Another challenge I will be facing is translating this into english accurately. I got to choose the topic and proposal questions so the writing hasn't been stressful at all ☺

I am noticing a lot of beautiful traditional korean architecture in some paintings, which reminds me of all the amazing structures I saw last summer in Korea. ♥
